Stipendium Hungaricum is the Hungarian Government’s biggest scholarship program for international students.

This scholarship allows students from 70+ countries (including 15 Arab countries and many Asian countries) to study at top Hungarian universities with full funding.You will get a monthly stipend for living costs and free accommodation.

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality
  • Must be a citizen of an eligible partner country
  • Must be nominated by your country’s sending partner authority
  • Cannot be a Hungarian citizen
2. Educational Qualification

For Bachelor’s:

  • High school diploma completed
  • OR in final year of high school
  • Good academic record (65%+ recommended)

For Master’s:

  • Bachelor’s degree completed (3-4 years)
  • OR in final year of bachelor’s
  • Must graduate before program starts

For PhD:

  • Master’s degree completed
  • Strong research background preferred
  • Publications help (not mandatory)
3. Age Limit
  • No official age restriction
  • Open to all ages
  • Most applicants are 18-35 years old
4. Academic Performance
  • Good academic record required
  • No fixed minimum CGPA
  • Generally 60-65% or above preferred
  • Lower grades accepted if you have strong profile
5. English Language
  • IELTS: 5.5 – 6.0 minimum (depends on program)
  • TOEFL iBT: 72-80 minimum
  • Other tests accepted
  • Some programs may waive this if you studied in English
6. Country Nomination
  • You MUST be nominated by your country’s sending partner
  • This is mandatory – you cannot apply without nomination
  • Contact your country’s education ministry or designated authority
7. Previous Studies
  • Cannot hold another Hungarian government scholarship currently
  • If you already have a degree at the same level, may not be eligible

Step 2: Contact Your Sending Partner (November-December)

What is a Sending Partner? Your sending partner is the government agency in your country that manages this scholarship.
